Portis Scores As Redskins Slide By Bills

Saturday, August 9, 2008

(Sports Network) - Shaun Suisham's 46-yard field goal early in the third quarter was the difference, as Washington clipped Buffalo, 17-14, in a preseason tussle at FedEx Field.

Todd Collins completed eight-of-11 passes for 77 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Redskins, who face the Jets next Saturday.

Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts scored for Washington, while Marcus Mason led all players with 80 yards on 16 carries.

J.P. Losman threw for 73 yards and one score on seven-of-nine passing for the Bills, who host Pittsburgh on Thursday. James Hardy's lone reception resulted in a TD and Rian Lindell made two-of-three field-goal attempts for Buffalo.

Lindell's 26-yard field goal put the Bills on the board early in the first, but a one-yard run by Portis gave the 'Skins the lead later in the period.

Betts rumbled in for a 12-yard touchdown early in the second to give Washington a 14-3 edge, but a Lindell 25-yarder and Losman's 16-yard connection to Hardy pulled Buffalo even before the half.
