Redskins' Taylor Out 10-14 Days With Knee Sprain

Sunday, August 24, 2008

(Sports Network) - Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor is expected to be sidelined 10-to-14 days with a sprained right knee suffered in Saturday's 47-3 preseason shellacking by the Carolina Panthers.

The injury leaves Taylor's availability for the team's season opener against the New York Giants on September 4 up in the air.

Taylor got his leg caught in a pile of players during a second quarter tackle of the Panthers' DeAngelo Williams. He remained down on the field after the play and was in obvious pain. He left the field under his own power and X-rays following the game were negative. Taylor had an MRI exam on Sunday morning.

The Redskins acquired the six-time Pro Bowler in a trade with the Miami Dolphins on July 20 after defensive end Phillip Daniels sustained a season- ending knee injury.
