Jacksonville Jaguars 2008 Training Camp Preview

(Sports Network) -

REPORT DATES: Rookies July 25th, Veterans July 25th

SITE: Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, Jacksonville, FL

CAMP OBJECTIVES: The Jaguars are viewed by many as a team with Super Bowl- level talent, but their would-be ascendancy will be contingent on a couple of key personnel areas coming together. The first is at wide receiver, where Jacksonville has attempted to shut the revolving door by bringing in Jerry Porter (Raiders) and Troy Williamson (Vikings) to help push holdovers Reggie Williams, Dennis Northcutt, and Matt Jones. The other area of concern for Jacksonville is along the defensive line, which will have a new look following the trade of former Pro Bowl tackle Marcus Stroud (Bills) and the selection of pass rushers Derrick Harvey (Florida) and Quentin Groves (Auburn) with the team's first two selections of the April Draft. In the secondary, the Jags lost Sammy Knight (Giants) to free agency and need free agent additions Drayton Florence (Chargers) and Pierson Prioleau (Redskins) to get their feet on the ground early. The man guiding the defense is ex-Washington mastermind Gregg Williams, who was hired after former coordinator Mike Smith took the head job with Atlanta.

PRESEASON SCHEDULE:

Aug 9 - vs. Atlanta, 7:30 PM Aug 16 - vs. Miami, 7:30 PM Aug 23 - at Tampa Bay, 7:30 PM Aug 28 - at Washington, 7:00 PM
