Boston, MA -- (Sports Network) - Chris Drury's pair of goals led the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-1 win over the hapless Boston Bruins at TD BankNorth Garden.Jason Pominville also lit the lamp for the Sabres, who beat the Bruins in their home-and-home series by a combined score of 10-2. Daniel Briere picked up a pair of assists and Martin Biron stopped 33 shots for the victory. Marco Sturm tallied for the Bruins, who have lost five straight and nine of 11. Tim Thomas made 25 saves but fell to 19-16-3 on the season. "Sometimes you get pushed to the edge and we're at the edge right now," said Bruins head coach Dave Lewis. "You fight or flee. Some guys have stepped up and fought and others have not yet." On Buffalo's first goal of the game, 3:47 into the second, the Bruins were incensed that Sabres defenseman Paul Gaustad was not called for an interference penalty committed on Marc Savard. The non-call seemed to distract the home club, enabling Drury to circle out from behind the net with the puck and tuck a shot by Thomas for a 1-1 tie. The Sabres went up 2-1 midway through the period on a power play, when Drury's attempted cross-ice pass to defenseman Brian Campbell ticked off the back of Brad Stuart's skate and into the net. "That (unlucky goal) was like what happened to us earlier in the year at Florida when Nieuwendyk scored," Thomas said. "They gave us bounces and we didn't capitalize but we gave them some and they did." 6:01 into the third, Buffalo opened up a 3-1 lead when Briere won a right circle draw and chipped it along the boards to Jochen Hecht. Hecht sent a pass back to Pominville waiting at the point, and his one-timer rippled the net on the far side. Though the Bruins put 12 shots on net in the final 20 minutes, Mark Mowers' shorthanded breakaway with 1:16 left in regulation was the best chance they had to climb back into the game. However, the chance was smothered by Biron, who laid out in the crease to stop the shot. Unlike Tuesday's debacle, which saw them give up the game's first two scores, the Bruins got on the board at 3:15 of the first period, as Glen Murray beat his man to a loose puck behind the Buffalo net and fed in front to Sturm, who backhanded the disc through Biron. Though the Sabres outshot Boston, 12-8, the Bruins took that 1-0 lead into intermission before a vastly superior Sabres squad notched the game's last three goals. "We knew we were up against a team that was going to fight pretty hard because of being embarrassed in our building (Tuesday night) and it was a hard-fought game," said Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff. "I thought it really could have gone either way. For a while it looked like neither team's power play was very good but we found a way to get one and it's nice to win on the road again." Game Notes The Sabres have won 12 of the last 14 meetings dating back to the start of last season, including five of six this year...Buffalo sports five players with 20 or more goals on the season...Sturm was hit by the follow-through of Sabres defenseman Henrik Tallinder's stick with 1:02 left in the game, and left under his own power with a cut under his right eye...There were 17 penalties whistled in the game, nine to Boston...Buffalo went 1-of-7 with the man advantage, and Boston finished scoreless in five chances.
