(Sports Network) - Crosstown rivals Anaheim and Los Angeles will both try for their first wins of the 2008-09 season, as the Kings welcome the Ducks for a battle at the Staples Center.

Both clubs are off to an 0-2-0 start to the campaign. Anaheim has dropped games to San Jose and Phoenix, while the Kings were swept in a home-and-home set by the Sharks.

After losing a road test to the Sharks to begin the year, the Ducks were handed a 4-2 setback by visiting Phoenix on Sunday. Shane Doan scored his first two goals of the season to help the Coyotes spoil Anaheim's home opener at the Honda Center.

Ryan Carter and George Parros each scored for the Ducks. Chris Pronger tallied an assist, and Jean-Sebastian Giguere allowed four goals on 24 shots in taking the loss in Anaheim's home opener.

The Ducks last dropped three straight to begin a season in 2003-04, when they lost five consecutive contests to start the year.

After losing in San Jose by a 3-1 count on Saturday, the Kings were handed a 1-0 home setback by the Sharks the following day. Brian Boucher stopped 21 shots for his 15th career shutout, and Lukas Kaspar scored his first NHL goal to lift San Jose to the home-and-home sweep.

Jason LaBarbera made 18 saves in the home opener for the Kings, but Los Angeles was hurt by missed opportunities and a pair of disallowed goals.

The Kings haven't gone 0-3-0 to start a season since losing the first three contests of the 1985-86 campaign.

Anaheim went 6-2 against the Kings in 2007-08 and have won seven of the last 12 meetings in the series. The Ducks have taken two of three and seven of the last nine road tests against LA.
