Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Antti Miettinen scored twice and Andrew Brunette had a goal and an assist as the Minnesota Wild dispatched of the Atlanta Thrashers by a 4-2 margin at Philips Arena. Marian Gaborik added an unassisted tally while Miettinen also assisted on Brunette's first period goal. Niklas Backstrom halted 24-of-26 shots to get the win for the Wild, who won their season opener at home on Saturday, 4-3, against Boston. Bryan Little had a goal and assist while Ilya Kovalchuk also scored for Atlanta, which started a three-game homestand Tuesday. New Jersey will visit on Thursday and then Buffalo two days later. Kari Lehtonen made 22 saves in defeat.

Final Score: Pittsburgh 3, Philadelphia 2 (OT)

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Pascal Dupuis scored with 10.8 seconds remaining in overtime, as the Pittsburgh Penguins edged the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2, at Mellon Arena. Brooks Orpik registered a goal and an assist for the Penguins, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves to record the win. Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne tallied for the Flyers, who have lost three consecutive games to start a season for the first time since the lockout- shortened 1995 campaign. Antero Niittymaki, who stopped all 13 shots he faced in relief of a shaky Martin Biron during Saturday's season-opening loss to the Rangers, made his first start for Philadelphia. The Finn allowed three goals on 28 shots in defeat. These clubs were meeting for the first time since Pittsburgh eliminated the Flyers in five games in the Eastern Conference finals.

Final Score: Calgary 5, Colorado 4

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Todd Bertuzzi scored twice, including the game- winner with nine minutes to go in regulation, as the Calgary Flames topped the Colorado Avalanche, 5-4, in a Northwest Division clash from the Pengrowth Saddledome. Jarome Iginla registered a goal and an assist for Calgary, which yielded 11 goals in dropping a home-and-home series with the Vancouver Canucks to open the 2008-09 campaign. Daymond Langkow, Dion Phaneuf and Mike Cammalleri each collected two assists, while Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 25-of-29 shots to get the win. Ryan Smyth scored a goal and assisted on another for the Avalanche, who have dropped three straight one-goal games to begin the season. It marks their worst start to a season since opening with four consecutive losses in 1998-99. Paul Stastny finished with two assists and Peter Budaj allowed five goals on 35 shots.

Final Score: Los Angeles 6, Anaheim 3

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Wayne Simmonds scored a goal in just his third NHL game, as the Los Angeles Kings doubled up the Anaheim Ducks, 6-3, at the Staples Center. Jarret Stoll had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who got their first win of the season. Matt Moulson scored a goal while Tom Preissing had a goal and an assist. Jason LaBarbera stopped 23-of-26 shots as the Kings broke into the win column with new coach Terry Murray. Brian Sutherby scored for the Ducks, who begin the season 0-3 for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign, when they lost five consecutive contests to start the year. Todd Marchant and Teemu Selanne tallied in defeat, while Jean- Sebastien Giguere let in five goals on 22 shots.

Final Score: San Jose 5, Columbus 2

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Patrick Marleau scored twice, including once shorthanded, to guide the unbeaten San Jose Sharks to a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Jonathan Cheechoo also scored shorthanded, while Milan Michalek netted one on the power play for the Sharks, who are 4-0 for the first time in franchise history. Marc-Edouard Vlasic also lit the lamp for San Jose, while Evgeni Nabokov stopped 31 shots as the Sharks continued their winning ways for new coach Todd McLellan. Newcomers Kristian Huselius and Christian Backman had the goals for the Blue Jackets, who have just one victory in their last 15 games at HP Pavilion. Pascal Leclaire made 19 saves before being lifted during the final period for Fredrik Norrena.
