(Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks will once again aim for their first victory of the season when they welcome the Phoenix Coyotes for this evening's test at the United Center.

Chicago has lost three straight to open the 2008-09 campaign, but did get a point its last time on the ice with Monday's shootout loss to visiting Nashville.

Rich Peverley and J.P. Dumont each found the back of the net in the shootout, helping the Predators spoil the Blackhawks' home opener by a 3-2 margin.

Peverley and Dumont made it a short 2-0 shootout for Nashville, as each stashed his shot through the legs of Chicago goaltender Cristobal Huet. Patrick Kane and Martin Havlat were each unable to sneak the puck by the Preds' Dan Ellis.

Havlat and Patrick Sharp recorded the goals for the Blackhawks. Huet stopped 25-of-27 shots in regulation but went 0-for-2 in the shootout.

Monday's tilt began a stretch of 11 home tests in 14 games for Chicago, which was 23-16-2 at the United Center last season.

Phoenix is unbeaten so far, winning its for two tilts of the season, and can record its first 3-0 start to a campaign since 2003-04 with another victory tonight.

Wayne Gretzky's club began the year with a victory over visiting Columbus on Saturday and followed with a triumph in Anaheim the next day. Shane Doan scored his first two goals of the season to lift the Coyotes to Sunday's 4-2 decision over the Ducks.

Mikkel Boedker, the eighth overall pick of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, tallied his first career goal in the first period for the Coyotes.

Kyle Turris, who was the team's first-round pick in 2007, scored the other goal and assisted on another, and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 33-of-35 shots to pick up the win.

Tonight marks the second stop on a four-game road trip for the Coyotes, who were 21-17-3 as the visiting club last year.

The Blackhawks were 3-1 against Phoenix last year, but the Coyotes have taken six of the last 10 meetings overall.
