Tuesday, July 1, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning continued their expansive roster overhaul, signing unrestricted free agent forward Radim Vrbata to a three-year deal Tuesday.

The 27-year old Vrbata had a breakout season with Phoenix in 2007-08, tallying career highs with 27 goals and 56 points in 76 games. He also tied for second on the Czech Republic with five goals in seven games during the 2008 World Championships.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Vrbata had a stellar rookie campaign, scoring 18 goals and 30 points in 50 contests as a 20-year-old for the Avalanche in the 2001-02 season.

Over five seasons with four clubs, Vrbata has picked up 102 goals and 226 points in 422 games.
