Tampa Acquires D Krajicek From Vancouver

Tampa, FL -- (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired defenseman Lukas Krajicek and forward Juraj Simek from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Shane O'Brien and forward Michel Ouellet on Monday.The 25-year-old Krajicek played in 39 games for the Canucks last season. He registered two goals and nine assists. The 6-foot-2 defenseman, who has also played for Florida during his five years in the NHL, was hampered by a shoulder injury last season and finished the campaign on the injured reserve. "Lukas is a proven NHL performer who can shore up our blue line and help with our transitional game," said Tampa's executive vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton. "With the addition of Juraj (Simek), we feel we have added to our depth at forward and we look forward to seeing what he can do in our organization this year." Simek appeared in 66 games with Manitoba of the AHL last season, recording seven goals and 17 assists. Ouellet, who has been assigned to the Manitoba Moose, played in 64 games during the 2007-08 season for Tampa. The 26-year-old finished with 17 goals and 19 assists. He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins with the 124th overall choice in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. O'Brien, 25, has spent three seasons in the NHL, including part of one season with Anaheim. In 158 games, he has six goals and 31 assists. Last season with Tampa, he had a career-high four goals and 21 points along with 154 penalty minutes in 77 games.
