Panthers Sign C Campbell

Thursday, June 26, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers signed center Gregory Campbell to a two-year contract on Thursday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Last season he appeared in a career-high 81 games and posted five goals and a career-high 13 assists for Florida. In addition, he lead the team with two shorthanded goals.

"Gregory has been one of our best penalty killers the past two seasons and he is a hard working player who is always the first on the ice at practice and the last one off," said Florida coach Jacques Martin. "He is a high character individual who has been an asset to our team both on and off the ice. We look forward to his continued contributions for the next two years."

Over four years in the league, all with Florida, he has totaled 14 goals and 22 assists in 226 games.
