POSTED: 1:07 pm EDT July 28, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers agreed to terms on a one- year contract with restricted free-agent defenseman Jay Bouwmeester on Monday.

The 24-year-old registered 15 goals and 37 points in 82 games for Florida a season ago. He ranked first in average time on ice amongst all NHL players with almost 27 1/2 minutes per game.

A third-overall pick of the Panthers in 2002, Bouwmeester has collected 38 goals and 161 points over 389 games, all with the franchise.
