Tuesday, September 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - Bryan McCabe's stay in Toronto is coming to an end.

TSN of Canada reported Monday that the anticipated trade that would send the defenseman from the Maple Leafs to the Florida Panthers will made be official by 11 a.m. (EDT) on Tuesday. McCabe was expected to waive his no-trade clause once he received a $2 million bonus owed to him by Toronto on Monday.

According to the report, the Maple Leafs will receive defenseman Mike Van Ryn in exchange for McCabe and a draft pick.

McCabe, 33, signed a five-year, $29 million contract with the Maple Leafs in 2006.

He endured an injury-plagued campaign last season, posting five goals and 23 points in 54 games. The veteran rearguard missed 22 games with a broken hand.
