Atlanta, GA -- (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers acquired defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Anaheim Ducks on Friday for three players.

Heading to Anaheim are defenseman Ken Klee along with forwards Brad Larsen and Chad Painchaud.

The Ducks waived Schneider on September 16, giving the other 29 NHL clubs 24 hours to pick up the 39-year-old rearguard but his rights reverted back to the Ducks after he was cleared through the process.

Anaheim signed the veteran of 19 seasons to a multi-year deal prior to last season, and he recorded 12 goals and 39 points in 65 games with a plus-22 rating. In addition he recorded one goal in six playoff games for the Ducks and had a plus or even rating in 32 straight games, good for the longest streak in the league last season.

The two-time NHL all-star and native of New York City, has posted 212 goals, 702 points and a plus-73 rating in 1,197 contests with the Canadiens, Islanders, Maple Leafs, Rangers, Kings, Red Wings and Ducks.

The 37-yaer-old Klee is a veteran of 13 NHL campaigns and tallied one goal and 10 points in 72 games last season for Atlanta after signing as a free agent prior to the 2007-08 season. The Indianapolis native has 54 goals and 184 points in 863 career games with Washington, Toronto, New Jersey, Colorado and Atlanta.

Larsen, 31, appeared in 202 games for the Thrashers, recording 15 goals and 32 points after being acquired off waivers from the Avalanche on February 24, 2004. In eight seasons with Atlanta and Colorado, the former fourth-round choice in the 1997 draft has 19 goals and 48 points in 294 games.

The 22-year-old Painchaud was a fourth-round selection by the Thrashers in the 2004 NHL draft. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Painchaud split time last season between the Chicago Wolves of the AHL and Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL, totaling nine goals and 17 points in 32 games. He has yet to appear in an NHL contest.
