When is a glass of wine just a glass of wine? I don't know the answer, but it's clear that it can't be average, run-of-the-mill vino for it to be included on the Fleming's 100 Wine List. The wine has to be special to make the cut.

In December, when everyone else is gearing up for the holidays, the folks at Fleming's are tasting, and tasting some more, to find the most balanced wines that best complement their menu items. Whether a vineyard is big or small, it's put in the running. And values at all prices are considered as well.

If it's a Pinot Grigio you desire, try a glass from Luna Vineyards in Napa County. The 2004 variety chosen by Fleming's exhibits an aroma of fig, peach, rose petals and ripe melon. If it's big red wines you enjoy, you may want to sample a glass of Hope Vineyard's Shiraz. Grown in Western Australia, the wine has a vibrant color and fine tannin structure, while bursting with classic plum and spice in typical Aussie Shiraz fashion. Perfect with any beef entrée.
