Learning how to take care of your car tires is an important part of vehicle ownership. However, it’s not something that everyone knows off the bat! That’s why Toyota of Clermont has taken the time to compile a list of ways to troubleshoot your car tires. Check it out!
Use our troubleshooting tips to keep your car tires in tip-top shape
Tip #1: Monitor your tire pressure. When was the last time you checked the PSI of your tires? Toyota of Clermont recommends breaking out your toolkit and checking tire pressure once every few weeks. If your tires are overinflated or underinflated, it’ll negatively affect your fuel efficiency and traction. Also, if you notice your pressure steadily and rapidly dropping, you may have a leak, which can lead to bigger problems.
Tip #2: Visually assess general condition. Do a visual check of your car tires every week. Be on the lookout for damage to them like punctures, sidewall separation, nails and screws, and sharp rocks stuck in the tread. Being on the lookout for damage can help you prevent flats, blowouts, and collisions. Our Clermont Toyota service techs can fix damage quickly and affordably so once you notice it, be sure to bring your car in!
Tip #3: Be aware of bubbles and blisters. Bubbles and blisters on your tire indicate weak spots where the pressurized air is pushing the tire out. They also can quickly turn into blowouts, which can lead to an accident. If you notice a bulge or blister, bring your ride into Toyota of Clermont and let our techs professionally assess your car tires!
Tip #4: Pay attention to your drive time. How does your ride feel when you’re behind the wheel? If it’s vibrating more than normal, then you might have an issues with your car tires being out of balance or damaged. Bring your ride into the Toyota of Clermont service center to have everything inspected and avoid further damage (and expenses).
Tip #5: Take care of tread checks. When was the last time you took a long, hard look at your tread? You want it to be deep enough and be in good condition to ensure ultimate traction (without traction, you’re a lot more likely to lose control and get into an accident). Do the penny test – stick a penny into the tread with Abe’s head down. If you can see the top of his head, you probably need a new set of tires, so let our techs hook you up!
