Are you a fan of the new Scion FR-S in Orlando? It’s gotten quite the following – it is, after all, the first affordable sports car Toyota has released in quite some time. It’s also got incredible technology both under the hood and inside the cabin, plus sleek and sporty style that’s tough to miss. However, did you know that Toyota recently took this iconic car to a whole new level at the LA Motor Show?
Meet the MegaScion FR-S – it’s a 750 horsepower racing machine!
Meet the MegaScion FR-S! We know – it sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie. Don’t be fooled; this new Scion in Orlando is as real as it gets, and it’ll be hitting the tracks as early as next year for Formula D racing! We won’t be seeing it at our Toyota Scion dealership anytime soon, though… mostly because it’s not legal to take this bad boy out on the streets!
What exactly does this MegaScion entail? Toyota basically took the original Orlando Scion FR-S and amped it up beyond belief in terms of both performance and appearance. Let’s take a closer look at what motorheads like Top Gear have been raving about since its big unveiling!
- This MegaScion will have a much sportier look than its original predecessor – it has a whole new body kit mixed into its sleek design, with pronounced lines and an extremely muscular and aggressive stance. 19-inch wheels were thrown into the design, as well as a super-slick pearly-silver paint hue on the exterior.
- As opposed to the original dark interior with sport bucket seats and red stitching, you’ll now find race harnesses and seats on the inside!
- Those racing seats and harnesses make a whole lot more sense after this next fact – this version of this new Scion will offer 750 horsepower and 730 lb-ft of torque. This is an ENORMOUS increase from the original 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque you’ll find at our Orlando Toyota Scion dealership!
- How did they achieve such an increase in power, though? Basically, they took the original 4.0L flat Boxer engine out of the equation and threw in an engine from an old favorite – the Toyota Supra. This motor is a 3.0L inline straight-six engine that’s turbo-charged for a massive boost in power. A straight-six engine means that all six cylinders are in a row (as opposed to a V6 engine, where they’re in two rows of three cylinders each). This alignment offers a much more powerful performance for the Scion FR-S in Orlando!
See the Orlando Scion FR-S take on the tracks next year!
We definitely won’t be seeing this MegaScion at our dealership anytime soon, but keep your eyes peeled for next year – it’s going to be hitting the tracks under the hands of Ken Gushi in the 2014 Formula Drift Season!
