MLB Game Summary - Florida At St. Louis

Jupiter, FL -- (Sports Network) - Kip Wells' first start of the spring was a good one, as the St. Louis Cardinals downed the Florida Marlins 8-1 in Grapefruit League play. Wells, in his first season with the Cardinals, allowed just one hit and one walk, striking out two, in two innings of work. Skip Schumaker ended 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Cardinals, who outhit the Marlins 12-4. John Rodriguez also had two hits for St. Louis. Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols did not play. Dan Uggla, Miguel Olivo, Joe Borchard and Alejandro De Aza each had a hit for Florida, which didn't play many of its regulars. Anibal Sanchez started for the Marlins and didn't allow a hit, but walked four with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.
