Howell III Confirmed For 2007 Exelon Invitational

Trenton, NJ -- (Sports Network) - Charles Howell III became the first player added to the 2007 Exelon Invitational field on Monday. The event, hosted by Jim Furyk, will be contested June 4th.Howell has gotten off to a hot start in 2007. He has picked up five top-10 finishes in eight starts, including a win at the Nissan Open, his first PGA Tour title in five years. "Charles is one of the hottest players this season," said Furyk. "With major championships right around the corner, he is playing as well as anybody on tour." Furyk will act as tournament host for the ninth time. The ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, will host the tournament for the second straight year. The Gary Player-designed course is slated to host the event for two more years after this. Furyk had to withdraw at the last minute last year, leaving local favorite Sean O'Hair, Adam Scott and John Daly to do battle. Daly was the big winner, collecting $130,000. Other PGA stars that have competed in the past include Stuart Appleby, Chad Campbell, Chris DiMarco, David Duval, Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia, David Toms and Phil Mickelson.
