Texans Trade For C Chris Myers

Posted: 5:35 pm EDT March 17, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Houston Texans acquired center Chris Myers from the Denver Broncos on Monday for a sixth-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Denver signed Myers to a four-year, $11 million contract before the trade, as the Texans opted not to give the restricted free agent an offer sheet since the sign-and-trade was deemed quicker.

Myers, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman, started in all 16 games with the Denver last season and has played in 41 games in his career. He began last season at left guard, but moved over to center for the final 11 contests.

Houston has now found its replacement for center Mike Flanagan, who was released at the start of free agency. Myers should be a good fit for Houston, as he's played in head coach Gary Kubiak's offensive system in Denver for three seasons.
