Thursday, June 19, 2008 – updated: 2:56 pm EDT June 19, 2008

The WFTV Eyewitness Sports team introduced its newest member to the Central Florida community.

Phil Burton will take over sports anchor duties from Zach Klein, who is moving to WFTV's sister station in Atlanta.

Phil is a veteran sports reporter who comes to Central Florida from Boston where he has been the co-host of the nightly sports program "Out of Bounds" on CN8. He has been a part of the CN8 sports team since the network launched in New England in 2003. Phil has covered some of the most significant sports stories in that region, including the historic Boston Red Sox 2004 season, as well as the Patriots victories in Super Bowl XXXVIII and XXXIX. He has also provided sideline commentary for live CN8 sports coverage.

Phil Burton has deep roots in team sports. His father was the very first draft pick ever chosen by the New England Patriots and Phil played college football in the Big Ten at Northwestern University.
