Aaron Gordon selected to participate in NBA Slam Dunk contest

Orlando, Fla. — Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon has been selected to participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans during State Farm All-Star Saturday Night.

Gordon, the fourth selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, is averaging 11.4 ppg., 4.6 rpg. and 1.9 apg. in 27.7 minpg. this season for the Magic. He has led (or tied) the team in scoring eight times, in rebounding three times and in assists once. Gordon has scored in double figures 26 times, has 20+ points six times and 30+ points twice, including a career-high 33 points on Dec. 14 vs. the L.A. Clippers.

This marks the ninth time a Magic player will be represented in the Slam Dunk contest, and the second consecutive year for Gordon. Past participants include: Victor Oladipo – 2015; Dwight Howard – 2009, 2008, 2007; Darrell Armstrong – 1996; Nick Anderson – 1992 and Otis Smith – 1991.

The basketball world will descend on New Orleans for State Farm All-Star Saturday Night featuring three different events showcasing the NBA’s best and brightest stars. The evening begins with the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, followed by the All-Star Three-Point Contest and culminating with the Verizon Slam Dunk. TNT will televise NBA All-Star Saturday Night beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
