Jacksonville cruises past Stetson, 24-7

DELAND, Fla. (AP) — Rylan Wells threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns to lead Jacksonville to a 24-7 win over Stetson in the Pioneer Football League opener for both teams Saturday night.

Wells was 10 for 16 with no interceptions and took control with the Dolphins' opening possession, connecting with Frantz Caudio on a 10-yard touchdown pass to cap a nine-play, 91-yard drive.

Jacksonville (2-1) then broke away in the second quarter. Jared Morris had a 13-yard touchdown run, Javier Arce-Ramirez kicked a 43-yard field goal and Brian Burnett hauled in a 44-yard touchdown throw with 18 seconds left in the opening half to give the Dolphins a 24-0 advantage at the half. Burnett finished with 115 yards on five catches.

Stetson (1-2) got its only score in the third quarter, a 20-yard touchdown throw from Gaven DeFilippo to Jonathan Jerozal. Cole Mazza ran for 112 yards on 16 carries for the Hatters.
