Jameis Winston: 'I learned from my mistakes'

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Jameis Winston would rather look to the season ahead as the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback for reigning national champion Florida State. He also knows he has to answer questions about his off-field conduct.

The sophomore said he understands "what it is to be a leader" and he's working to "hold myself to that standard."

Winston was investigated for sexual assault during last season. A prosecutor in Tallahassee, Florida, decided in December not to charge him due to a lack of evidence and gaps in the accuser's story.

Then in April, he was cited for walking out of a supermarket without paying for crab legs and crawfish.

Winston says he has "learned from my mistakes" and is focusing on the season.
