Solar Bears Fall 3-0 To Stingrays

ORLANDO, Fla. — The following is a news release from the Orlando Solar Bears.

Orlando closed out their three-game series against the South Carolina Stingrays with a 3-0 loss to the Stingrays in front of 6,510 fans at the Amway Center on Sunday afternoon.

Neither side was able to take control of the game in the first period, but for the third straight game the Stingrays scored the first goal of the contest. F Andrew Cherniwchan carried the puck into the attacking zone and left it for F Robbie Dee at the top of the slot. Dee picked the top corner of the net 9:28 into the frame to put South Carolina up by a 1-0 score.

Penalty trouble in the third period helped South Carolina extend their advantage. Dee collected his second goal of night on the power play 7:42 into the frame, and F Hunter Bishop followed it with a 5-on-3 marker to seal the deal with 7:06 left to play. Orlando was whistled for a total of seven minor penalties in the third period, and Solar Bears G Ryan Zapolski finished off the contest stopping all 15 shots for his fifth shutout of the season.

Notes:
The 15 shots for Orlando is the fewest they have taken in a single game this season... Orlando was without F Ryan Ginand, who was loaned to Houston earlier today... G Patrick Killeen started all three games for the Solar Bears this week, ending the weekend with a 34 save performance... Forward C.J. Severyn had his three game point streak (3 goals, 2 assists) snapped today... D Jesse Dudas had points in back-to-back games coming into this contest.
