Orlando City cancels Saturday soccer match due to weather

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando City SC’s first road match of the season against the New England Revolution on Saturday, March 11, has been postponed due to extreme cold projected to hit the New England area over the weekend.

The match at Gillette Stadium will now be played on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. ET.

The decision to postpone the match was made by Major League Soccer and both clubs after forecasts of temperatures in the low 20s at kickoff, with a potential windchill in the single digits.

The winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow to southern New England on Friday.

Orlando City returns to Orlando City Stadium for its second home match on Saturday, March 18, for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against the Philadelphia Union.
