Vanessa Welch

I joined the Eyewitness news team in February of 2007. I am originally from Atlanta and graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia.

My first on-air job was in West Texas. That's where I met my husband, who was a meteorologist anchoring a morning show, in Midland-Odessa. There, I won several awards for medical reports featuring women who were battling cancer.

I spent the next three years in Raleigh North Carolina at WTVD. I received an Emmy nomination for a breaking news story on a suspected terrorist who ran over students on the UNC campus.

I also covered the Kerry/Edwards Campaign, the Duke Lacrosse rape case, hurricanes on the North Carolina coast and interviewed First Lady Laura Bush.

I am thrilled to be living in Central Florida. I love the sunny weather and all of the wonderful people here. My husband and I attend First Baptist in Orlando.

When I am not working I am running, hanging out with my two Labrador retrievers or traveling to see my family in Atlanta.
