1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. CONTEST IS SUBJECT TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS AND IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

2. The WFTV 9 Family Connection / Heart of Florida United Way "I AM THE ONE" Grant awards (the "Contest") are open only to legal residents of the Central Florida counties of Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Brevard, Marion, Volusia, Sumter or Flagler who are 18 years of age or older at time of entry. Employees of WFTV and the members of the immediate families of all such employees and all others with whom they are domiciled are not eligible to participate in the Contest or to win any awards. WFTV 9 Family Connection, WFTV, Inc., and it’s Partners DARDEN RESTAURANTS, FAIRWINDS CREDIT UNION, CENTRAL FLORIDA AUTO DEALERS ASSOCIATION, INC. and AIRTRAN AIRWAYS, their companies and any subsidiaries, will not be held liable for any injuries incurred during any process of this project.

3. A minimum of Forty two (42) "I AM THE ONE" Grants will be awarded that consist of $1,000.00 (one thousand dollars). Checks will be distributed from the "I AM THE ONE" Fund hosted by the Heart of Florida’s United Way. A maximum of one (1) grant will be awarded per contestant and per household. The odds of being awarded a grant will depend on the number of eligible entries received. Participating radio station partners will also be judging their own entrants and awarding $1,000.00 dollar grants based on the same criteria. A minimum of 15 grants will be awarded in this manner.

4. To apply, log onto wftv.com from 12:00PM EST on Monday, August 13, 2007 through 12:00PM ET on April 30, 2008 (the "Contest Period"). Print out the application form, complete it by hand, and submit it to WFTV I AM THE ONE GRANT APPLICATION, 490 E. South Street, Orlando, FL 32801. Contestants may submit multiple applications. WFTV will not be responsible for incomplete, late, misdirected or unintelligible applications or for failure to receive entries due to technical or transmission failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware, software, telephone line or equipment, whether originating with sender or with operator. Software-generated entries or other entries submitted by automated means are prohibited and will be disqualified.

5. The following rules will apply to all applications:

• Applications must be received by Noon on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
• Applications must provide a general account of your project idea, in writing:


1) Outline overall project/concept
2) Timeline of project (begin date, execution, completion date, etc…)
3) List of people who will participate
4) Summary of project execution (positive aspects/negative aspects, etc…)
5) Provide information on others that contributed to this project beyond the $1,000.00 grant

6. WFTV and our WFTV Family Connection Partners will judge the applications based upon the following criteria:

• Project must benefit a specific issue faced by the YOUTH of Central Florida
• Project must benefit an individual or organization within the WFTV viewing area

Project criteria includes HEALTH, EDUCATION, SAFETY and QUALITY OF LIFE

7. Applicants who are preliminarily selected for a grant will be required to:

• Consent to a standard background check
• Provide contact information for all those involved in the project
• Provide appropriate documentation of all project expenditures
• Appear on-camera in WFTV News interviews

8. All eligible grant winners must also execute an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release and provide verification of their birth date, home address and social security number within five (5) business days after Operator’s first attempt to notify them of their selection as a winner, in order to receive a grant.

9. Eligible winners will be notified with details on how to pick up their prizes and must claim their prizes within ten (10) days of Operator’s first attempted notification. After ten (10) days the grants will be awarded to an alternate winner selected by the same process. Failure to verify eligibility and to claim prize in accordance with these Official Rules will result in disqualification of winner and forfeiture of winner’s interest in any prize.

10. Except where prohibited, entry into this Contest constitutes winners’ consent to the use of their name, likeness, and voice in any media for any general advertising, public relations and/or promotional purpose by WFTV without limitation or compensation.

11. Prizes not claimed by qualified winners in accordance with these Official Rules after a minimum of three alternate winners will not be awarded and shall remain property of Sponsor.

12. WFTV reserves the right, but shall have no obligation, to increase the number of eligible winners and increase the prize value to be awarded in connection with the Contest. WFTV reserves the right to change these Official Rules at any time. By participating in this Contest, contestants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges selected by Operator. In its sole discretion, WFTV reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest. In the event the Contest is compromised by non-authorized human intervention, tampering, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of WFTV, which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest, WFTV reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest.

13. This contest is subject to all federal and Florida state and local laws, rules and regulations. Void outside of Florida and where otherwise prohibited or restricted.

14. All federal, state and local taxes shall be the sole responsibility of the winners. Winners may waive the right to receive a prize. Prizes may not be transferred or assigned. No substitutions for grant awards shall be allowed except that all prizes are subject to availability and WFTV reserves the right to substitute any prize or prize component of a prize package with a prize or component of equal or greater retail value

15. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: By entering this Contest and/or accepting a prize, entrants agree to release Operator and Sponsor from any and all claims, cost, liabilities, damages, expenses, demands of any type in connection with the Contest.

16. CONSTRUCTION: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of any contestant and any party associated with the operation of this Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of Florida, or any other jurisdiction) that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Florida. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.

17. SPONSOR: This Contest is operated and sponsored by WFTV, Inc. decisions regarding the selection of winners, the eligibility of contestants, the award of prizes, the interpretation of these Official Rules, and all other aspects of this Contest are final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will be responsible for any typographical or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials or announcements relating to the Contest.
