I am thrilled to be back in Central Florida where I enjoyed the best years of my broadcasting career and where most of my treasured memories took place.I was born in Kentucky but grew up in Miami where I developed an early interest in journalism during high school. I graduated Cum Laude from Florida State University and eventually landed my first broadcasting job at a small radio station in Melbourne. That position led to my first on-camera job as a television reporter for WESH in Orlando. Soon after, I joined WFTV as a general assignment reporter and one year later was promoted to anchor for the noon and 5:30PM newscasts, a position I held for twelve years. My time in Central Florida allowed me to cover the first space shuttle launch, presidential inaugurations, and political conventions as well as the chance to interview hundreds of personalities and newsmakers from Oprah, Dolly, Lucy and Arnold to first ladies Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush and Hillary Clinton. While at WFTV, I won an Emmy award for a special on the toll that stardom often takes on child stars and was nominated for another on teen social pressures. I was also voted "Favorite Female Anchor" twice by the readers of Central Florida Magazine. In 1994, I became the main anchor at the ABC affiliate in Tampa. While there, I earned awards from The Society of Professional Journalists, received the "Communicator of the Year" award from the Tampa chapter of the Toastmasters and had the opportunity to interview George W. and Laura Bush.In April 2003, I rejoined WFTV as anchor at 5, 6 and 11 with veteran Eyewitness News anchor Bob Opsahl, with whom I anchored for several years before. When I'm not working on the news of the day, I spend my time being the mother of a young teenage son.
