Cyber-Bartering Comes To Internet

Sites Offer Ways To Swap Items

A new breed of online sites is popping up that allow consumers to swap until they drop, WCMH-TV reported.

The latest cyber-craze involves a system that has been around long before currency -- good, old-fashioned bartering.

At YouCanBarter.com, for example, consumers can post an ad stating what they would like and what they're willing to offer in return. It's a concept that is taking off, WCMH said.

A site called SwapHandMeDowns.com is a 21st century trading post. Consumers can post clothes that they want to get rid of and search for items needed in return.

While consumers don't have to pay for each trade on the swapping sites, some have annual fees to cover costs. Others are entirely free.
