Williams Sisters Win Third Wimbledon Doubles Title

Saturday, July 5, 2008

(Sports Network) - Venus and Serena Williams won their third Wimbledon doubles title on Saturday with a straight-sets victory over Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur.

Just hours earlier on Saturday, Venus defeated Serena 7-5, 6-4, to win her fifth Wimbledon singles title. But for the doubles final, they took the same side of the court and rolled over the American Raymond and Australian Stosur, 6-2, 6-2.

The 11th-seeded Williams sisters continued their perfect streak in major doubles finals, improving to 7-0. They also won the Wimbledon doubles title in 2000 and 2002. They earned $450,000 for the win.
