USTA Agrees To Buy Cincy Masters Event

Monday, August 4, 2008

(Sports Network) - The United States Tennis Association has agreed to buy a majority interest in the Masters Series tournament in Cincinnati. The deal still needs approval from the ATP.

The USTA has plans for a multi-million-dollar renovation to the event's site, the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Scotsman Andy Murray upset Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia in Sunday's title match in Mason. The tournament is part of the U.S. Open Series, a series of North American hardcourt events that lead up to the U.S. Open, which will commence August 25 in New York.
