Children injured after truck, school bus collide in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Four people, including two children, were hospitalized after a truck and a school bus collided Monday in Daytona Beach, officers said.

The crash happened on Mason Avenue and Vine Street.

Daytona Beach police said the driver of this pickup truck cut off the bus while making a turn into a nearby plaza, causing the head on collision.

Forty Champion Elementary School students were on board the bus at the time of the crash.

School officials moved the students to another bus.

"I think the kids’ (injuries) are pretty minor.  They may have bumped their heads in the collision. They probably came forward," said Jimmie Flynt of the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck will likely be cited.

The names and conditions of the injured have not been released.
