NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Thousands of people were still without power throughout New Smyrna Beach Saturday after Hurricane Matthew made landfall.
Even though residents didn’t have electricity, that didn’t stop them from cleaning up after the storm.

Roger Corbin and his wife left the beach-side town Wednesday. When they returned, they found large trees and limbs had missed their home.

“It could have been so much worse. Flooding from the river. Flooding from the ocean,” Corbin told Channel 9’s Cuthbert Langley.
Linda Leonardy also had large limbs to clean up on Saturday, but her home is OK.
“I just said, ‘Thank you, angels. Thank you for sitting at that beach and pushing that ocean back,’”
Florida Hospital is closed and won’t be fully functioning until Wednesday because of no electricity.
