As the tropics continue to warm, another disturbance over the mid-Atlantic shows a 30 percent chance of development within the next two days.
Fortunately, it is not affecting land at this time and it is likely to continue to weaken as it travels over the cooler northern Atlantic waters, currently in the 60s.
In March, another disturbance tried to develop over the Atlantic, Invest 90L, and quickly dissipating over 600 miles north of Puerto Rico.
Since the satellite era started (1960s), there have been five storms in the Atlantic Basin and one named, 2003’s Ana.
Hurricane season officially starts on June 1.
