Last week wasn't a good one for Illinois Sen. Roland Burris. This week may prove to be even worse.
Not only does Burris have to return to the Senate, where his Democratic colleagues will be asked about his future, and where reporters will happily chase Burris down the hall all week, but it's also a week where his Governor is in town.
Yes, the same Governor who replaced Rod Blagojevich when the former Guv was thrown out of office by the legislature.
The same Governor who last week called on Burris to resign.
And that means pesky reporters will chase after the new Governor to ask him to repeat his message about Burris.
It's almost like a perfect storm, or maybe an imperfect storm for Burris right now. He can't get away from all of the controversy surrounding whether he really told the whole truth and nothing but the truth to the Illinois legislature when asked about contacts with Blago.
So far, Burris has sort of seemed out of his league in the Senate. We'll get a very good idea how he does this week.
For now, he's on his own. Democrats are standing aside and watching him twist in the wind.
You're Almost Done!
