The House Booth

Previous Posts

By Jamie Dupree

I detailed earlier this year the renovations to the workspace for radio and TV reporters on the House side of the Capitol.  My little booth is now open for business. Back in August, I put up some photos of the unfinished work space, which looked like this:

Now you can see what it looks like with everything finished and my equipment (and lots of wires) in place.
This straight on photograph shows my barebones operation on the House side of the Capitol, with a laptop and two digital audio recorders. You only see one? That's because the other one is attached to the wall with velcro, on the left of the photo.

As you can tell, there is not much room in here. I don't have a chair, but instead opted for a stool, because a chair would have been too big for the space.
The piece of equipment under the TV and telephone is my ISDN box, which gives me studio sound quality with all of my stations.

In this photo, you can also see some trees outside of my window, which is the main attraction of this very small workspace.
And, as you can see, the view is definitely worth it.
