It took a week, but former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich is finally making it official Wednesday afternoon, that he is getting out of the race for the Republican nomination for President.
In a video message to supporters issued on Tuesday, Gingrich did not mention Mitt Romney's name, but did indicate that he was ready to do all he could to defeat President Obama in November.

Gingrich said nothing in the video about the campaign debt that he ran up in the last few months, which stood at over $4.5 million as of early April - but his web site makes it clear that he is still taking donations:
