Timing is everything and it was a close call on this Halloween! As the clouds rolled back into central Florida yesterday afternoon, the prospects for a dry Halloween might have dimmed in your house -- fortunately, just in time for the trick-or-treaters tonight, drier air has moved in. I'll get to the dry trend in just a second but, first, a look back at the rain: much of the area saw an inch of rain through the first part of Halloween, with locally over two inches across southern sections of the area. It had already been a wet October across the area; so wet, in fact, that many spots finished with 2-3 times the average October rainfall (just under 10" in Melbourne, just under 9" in Orlando!).

High pressure is building in tonight and will set us up for a mainly clear night. This wasn't a strong cold front, so it won't be too cool ot start Tuesday. Most areas will be in the mid to upper 50s with low to mid 60s across our southeast counties. By tomorrow afternoon, plan on a mostly sunny sky away from the south Volusia and Brevard coast with highs in the mid 70s. Right along the coast, a north-northeast to northeast wind will drag in some clouds from the Ocean; plan on a partly cloudy finish to the day back to the coast. That wind becomes even more pronounced off the Ocean on Wednesday; we'll see more clouds around through the eastern half of the area by the afternoon.

Overall, as we head through the first few days of November, we will be mainly dry, typical for what is usually a pretty dry month in central Florida. The only chance of rain over the next five days, in fact, comes on Friday as a weak cold front moves through. We'll be mainly dry although I can't rule out a stray sprinkle or two.

Have a great Halloween night!
