Tropics and Temperatures

By Brian Shields

The peak of the hurricane season is just about here (September 10th) and it sure is active. Katia will stay out to sea, but the dangerous rip currents will continue. And there is a new disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico, that could develop further.

And farther out in the Atlantic, Tropical Depression #14 formed yesterday. It will soon become Tropical Storm Maria. There is lots of time to watch it, as it continues to move west.

While September brings more activity in the tropics, we also start to get a slight drop in temperatures.

For the rest of the week, we’ll have middle and upper 60s for overnight lows, north and west of Orlando. Not too bad!

Have a great day! – Brian Shields
