Good afternoon! Drier air is quickly moving into central Florida this afternoon and some of the coolest air we've felt since mid May will following shortly behind an unusually strong early October cold front! Late Friday afternoon, there are only a few showers and storms around central Florida, mainly along the east coast sea breeze. The dry air that's pushed into the area in advance of the front has meant fewer storms overall, but the storms that have developed have been locally strong with gusty wind, frequent lightning, small hail, and even the potential of funnel clouds. That rain chance will linger through early this evening along the Brevard coastline before pushing offshore.

Now, onto the fall front! Late Friday afternoon the front was over central Georgia and moving quickly south. It will move through the area in the pre-dawn hours on Saturday with only a few clouds; it will come through without any rain. By daybreak Saturday, temperatures will be in the 50s across our northern counties with 60s most other places. It'll be windy Saturday afternoon (with rough seas along the coast) but we'll have the benefit of wall-to-wall sun. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s Saturday with upper 70s and low 80s on Sunday. In between, temperatures will fall into the 40s (yes, 40s!) across our northwest tier Sunday morning with upper 50s even across our southern zones. It'll mark the coolest air we've felt since MAy 18th in Orlando when the temperature fell to 57 in Orlando! This is about three weeks ahead of schedule for the first sub-60 degree temperature; on average, we don't feel air that cool until October 19!

Enjoy the weekend!
