Feel like a yo-yo yet? I do! That's what the weather, at least, has felt like around here the last several days: from 32 degrees and the first freeze since January 5th on Sunday morning to 78 this afternoon and all the way to 83 by Friday! Like we've talked about throughout the winter, a La Nina is weather pattern is marked by only occasional, and fleeting, bouts with cold weather in the southeastern United States. Already, a strong ridge of high pressure is building aloft and that will send temperatures into the 80s for highs on Wednesday and Thursday.
With weak high pressure situated just offshore, we'll have a light wind overnight the next several days. This, coupled with additional moisture moving into the area, will lead to foggy starts each day. That fog will be locally dense, especially across inland sections of central Florida. The mornings will be pleasant, with lows in the 50s and 60s.
The next cold front will arrive on Friday with a 20% chance of showers. That front, though, will be running head-long into the strong ridge aloft. The result? A stalling front across the area this weekend! The setup is pretty complex right now, but right now it appears that front will return north as a warm front Saturday with a 30% chance of showers and then another, sharper/stronger, cold front will move through Sunday with a 40% chance of rain and even a few storms. That there will be rain this weekend isn't much of a question at this point, the exact timing of that rain is up for debate though and we'll be fine-tuning that forecast for you over the next several days.
Have a great night!
