Sandwiched Between Fronts Saturday

Finally, rain! Alright, it wasn't much in most neighborhoods, but at least we had enough to wet the ground just a bit and keep the dust down. The rain arrived before dawn across our western and central counties and continued through much of the day across the eastern parts of the area. Today's rain was triggered by a cold front that had a robust area of rain and storms associated with it last night. However, as this line moved away from the warmer waters of the Gulf and the upper level energy lifted northward, the rain quickly broke apart as it moved across the peninsula.

That said, we did manage some higher amounts for some lucky neighborhoods. Some of the highest amounts I could find were in Lake County, with just under 0.60" in Eustis and just over half an inch in Mascotte. Downtown Orlando wasn't as lucky, with only a few hundreths of inch falling. Tonight, as I write this around 7 PM, most of the rain is gone as our cold front sags south of central Florida. There are plenty of clouds left behind across our southern counties, and these clouds will linger through much of the day Saturday in Brevard and Osceola Counties (with a 10% chance of a few sprinkles).

We're awaiting the arrival of cold front number two to completely clear us out. That will not happen until the early morning hours of Sunday. Until then, plan on more clouds to start the weekend across our southern counties with more sunshine north. Highs will be in the mid 70s. It's only a little cooler Sunday behind the second front, but it will be much sunnier. Highs to wrap up the weekend will be in the upper 60s and low 70s. It'll be great for any outdoor activities you might have planned!

Have a great weekend!
