Silver Stars Acquire Wauters In Draft Day Trade With Dream

San Antonio, TX -- (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Silver Stars acquired center Ann Wauters in a six-player trade with the Atlanta Dream immediately following the 2008 WNBA Draft on Wednesday.Also coming to San Antonio are Texas A&M guard Morenike Atunrase and a 2009 second round pick from Atlanta. In exchange, the Dream received forward Camille Little, guard Chioma Nnamaka and the Silver Stars 2009 first round draft pick. "We are so glad that Ann Wauters is back in the WNBA and playing in San Antonio," said Silver Stars general manager and head coach Dan Hughes. "The former all-star will be a real treat for WNBA fans across the county to see. Ann is a world-class post player that also will be a great fit for our existing team." Wauters, taken first overall in the 2000 WNBA Draft by the Cleveland Rockers, averaged 9.7 points and 4.9 rebounds over five seasons for Cleveland and the New York Liberty. Having also played year-round overseas, she sat out the 2006 and '07 seasons to give her body a chance to rest. She was taken by Atlanta in the 2008 WNBA Expansion Draft. Atunrase averaged 11.2 points and 4.3 rebounds during her college career and was an honorable mention All-American in 2007. The Silver Stars also selected Alex Anderson from the University of Tennessee- Chattanooga with their third round pick Wednesday.
