New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - The New York Liberty acquired guard Leilani Mitchell from the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday in a sign-and-trade deal.

The Liberty traded their third-round pick in the 2009 draft to Phoenix in exchange for Mitchell, who was selected by the Mercury with the 25th pick in the second round of last month's draft. The 5-foot-5 Mitchell finished her career at Utah with averages of 17.1 points, 5.8 assists and 3.7 steals per game.
