Phoenix, AZ -- (Sports Network) - Sophia Young had 26 points and eight rebounds as the San Antonio Silver Stars defeated the Phoenix Mercury, 97-87, at US Airways Center.

Becky Hammon had 19 points and six rebounds while Ann Wauters added 15 points and 10 boards. Erin Buescher donated 15 points and six boards for the Silver Stars, who bounced back from a loss to Los Angeles on Monday to win for the eighth time in nine games.

With a record of 16-7, San Antonio holds the best record in the WNBA.

Cappie Pondexter and Diana Taurasi each scored 23 points with Pondexter adding seven assists and six boards for the Mercury, who have dropped their last three games.
