Sunday, September 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - Becky Hammon scored 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting to lead the San Antonio Silver Stars to an 85-73 win over the Connecticut Sun.

The win vaulted the Silver Stars into a dead heat with idle Seattle -- both clubs are 21-10 -- atop the Western Conference entering the final week of the regular season. Sophia Young added 22 points and 10 rebounds for San Antonio, while Ann Wauters scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Vickie Johnson added 10 points and six boards.

Asjha Jones had 22 points and nine rebounds for the Sun, who saw their seven- game win streak come to an end. Tamika Whitmore scored 17 points and Lindsay Whalen added 16 points for Connecticut.
