9 things to do this weekend: Boats, beaches and Caribbean culture

ORLANDO, Fla. — As students around Central Florida adjust to going back to school this week, it is important to still make time for some fun.

Here are some of the events going on around Central Florida this weekend.

Orlando Boat Show

The Orlando Boat Show will be featured at the Orange County Convention Center this weekend.

Boats of nearly every shape and size will be on display starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Open House at Orlando Shakes

The Orlando Shakespeare Theater will hold a free open house event on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.

Visitors will get a peek behind the scenes with tours, games, crafts and more.

Farm Share food distribution in Kissimmee

Farm Share is distributing food to food-insecure families in Kissimmee on Saturday at 9 a.m.

The drive-thru only event will take place at 2188 McLaren Circle.

Beach cleanup and free tacos in New Smyrna Beach

Rip Curl New Smyrna is planning a beach cleanup event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers will receive free tacos for helping out.

“Endless Summer” paintings by artist Terry Cope in Titusville

The Downtown Art Gallery in Titusville is showcasing “Endless Summer” paintings by artist Terry Cope.

The work showcases surfer and beach themes inspired by the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

The gallery is open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 335 S. Washington Ave. in Titusville.

Art After Dark in Orlando

Orlando’s Downtown Arts District will hold an Art After Dark gathering Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The semi-formal gathering aims to introduce young professionals to the arts district.

Charlie’s Bakery & Creamery school fundraiser

Charlie’s Bakery & Creamery will donate 10% of all ice cream sales, starting Sunday through Aug. 20, to support local schools.

Sanford Food Truck Fiesta

Around 30 food trucks from around Orlando and Central Florida will serve guests Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.

Live music and vendors will also be at the free event, which occurs on the second Sunday of each month until the end of the year.

Caribbean American Heritage Festival and Expo

A free Caribbean American Heritage Festival and Expo will be held Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.

The event will celebrate Caribbean American culture with music, food and more at the Seneff Arts Plaza at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando.
