Nelson, 86, made the announcement on Twitter and Facebook after performing in Toledo, Ohio.

Nelson's tour had 30 remaining dates and was scheduled to end Nov. 29 in Thackerville, Oklahoma, Rolling Stone reported. He also was scheduled to play at the Farm Aid concert Sept. 21 with Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, the magazine reported.

Illness has forced Nelson to cancel concert dates in recent years, the Toledo Blade reported. He canceled several dates in 2018, including an appearance at the Outlaw Music Festival, according to Rolling Stone. In August 2017, respiratory problems forced Nelson to cut short a concert in Salt Lake City, the magazine reported.
