Orlando's most 'entertaining' dinner propositions

Just going out to dinner can be an entertaining proposition, but if the restaurant also offers live music, it’s even better. In Central Florida, the entertainment can range from the quiet and serene to the outrageous.

Here are some of the places I recommend that offer live entertainment on certain evenings. Be sure to check with the restaurant for current schedules.

The Boheme -- The restaurant in the elegant boutique hotel in downtown Orlando offers entertainment on most evenings in the Klimt Rotunda, which sits between the dining room and the Bosendorfer Lounge (which is named for the piano in the rotunda). From solo piano to small jazz ensembles, this is a great place to listen, sip and nibble.

Hollerbach's Willow Tree Cafe -- This Sanford German has a terrific oom-pah-pah band on weekends that also includes a couple of fiddlin' teens who are both outstanding musicians. Prost!

Vines Grille & Wine Bar -- Just across the street from Timpano, Vines has a jazz combo on most nights. You can hear the music from anywhere in the restaurant, but if you sit at the bar you can also nibble on the strips of bacon offered as snacks.

Bananas Diner -- This one would fall into the outrageous category. More than a few unsuspecting diners have been surprised by the bawdy drag performers who entertain here. Be especially warned about the Sunday gospel brunch show -- more sacrilege than religious. But fun.
