2020: Must-do events this January

The beginning of a new year and decade is here, and it is time to kick off 2020 with events you won’t want to miss around Central Florida.

K92.3 All Star Jam

K92.3 is celebrating 25 years of the K92.3 All Star Jam by hosting two concerts this year. The first will take place Jan. 19 at Addition Financial Arena with performances by Lady Antebellum, Brett Young, Chris Lane and Runaway June. Tickets are available online.

Mecum Kissimmee 2020

Mecum Kissimmee 2020, the world’s largest collector-car auction, has returned to Osceola Heritage Park for an 11-day run through Sunday, January 12, boasting more than 3,000 classic and collector cars slated to cross the auction block.

This massive event will cover 60 acres and feature more than 20 private collections, over a thousand Road Art items and signature guitars, the Mecum Midway of food, exhibitors, live entertainment on the Mecum Midway stage, the Dodge Thrill Ride, and the high-energy Mecum auction action.

Lakeridge Winery Winter Music Series

Each Saturday afternoon during the month of January, Lakeridge Winery is hosting its annual Winter Music Series featuring live music on its outdoor stage and inside at the Wine & Cheese Bar.

The musicians selected are all fantastic performers, hand-picked from the wealth of talent located throughout Central Florida.

Lakeridge wine, beer, soft drinks and a variety of food is available for purchase, along with complimentary Winery tours and tasting.

Disney’s Aladdin at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

Some 10 million audience members worldwide have had the chance to experience the magic of “Disney’s Aladdin,” and starting on January 22, the show will begin a 24 performance run in the Walt Disney Theatre at Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

“Disney’s Aladdin” brings the timeless Disney animated feature film to life with unforgettable beauty, magic, comedy and breathtaking spectacle.

Tickets for “Disney’s Aladdin” at the Dr. Phillips Center from January 22 to February 9 are on sale now and start at $81 with VIP packages available.

Fourth Annual Orlando Fringe Winter Mini-Fest

The Orlando Fringe Winter Mini-Fest will take place January 9 through 12 at Lowndes Shakespeare Center at Orlando’s Loch Haven Park, and is a great introduction to the world of Fringe on a small, easy to introduce kind-of-way. The shows are each hand-picked and are extremely affordable.

Jurassic World Live

The dinosaurs from “Jurassic World” are making their way off the screen and into Orlando's Amway Center Jan. 17 to 20 with Feld Entertainment’s Jurassic World Live Tour.

Experience the excitement of being face-to-face with life-sized dinosaurs, including the vicious Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Velociraptor Blue and many other favorites. Adventure is guaranteed with arena-sized action, special effects and physical stunts that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Vegan Food Fest

Vegan food is not just a fad. You can explore over 10 vegan food vendors, live music, vegan desserts and more at the Orlando Vegan Fest on Jan. 18 at Orlando’s Eagle Nest Park. Admission is $10 per family and includes parking, entertainment, and a kid zone.

Otronicon at the Orlando Science Center

Otronicon is a celebration of the intersection between science and technology that highlights innovative technology being developed in Central Florida with interactive exhibitors, workshops, speakers and competitions.

The event is a collaboration between educational institutions and the tech and manufacturing communities. It shows how they impact day-to-day activities and their potential to drive the future, individually, regionally and globally.

The Hullabaloo in Thornton Park

Thornton Park District is proud to announce the 1st annual Orlando Hullabaloo – an epic beach party taking place Jan. 25 at Lake Eola Park.

Part music festival, part beach bash, Hullabaloo will bring musical acts Sugar Ray and Eve 6 as well as a host of local bands for an all-day beach-themed festival in the middle of the Florida winter.

There will be food trucks, libations, and activities for all ages throughout the day.
